The Path to Brain and Body Fitness: Helping Youth Reach Their Potential

Day by day, many students have a stressed out, sedentary lifestyle. They are sleep deprived, eat over-processed foods. This way of life is a "path" that leads to dangerous underlying changes in body chemistry. Eventually, diseases like obesity, type 2 diabetes and hypertension will manifest.

You will learn how childhood obesity, type 2 diabetes and hypertension can affect growing young bodies and minds - keeping students from reaching their potential in life.

Mind-Body Healing for Chronic Disease

 

People with chronic disease or injuries requiring long recovery times, often are busy managing medical visits, procedures and medication. While working so hard to heal the body, sometimes the emotional challenges of dealing with the illness become a drain. This presentation is designed to provide tools for self-understanding and how to incoporate mind-body techniques that can enhance recovery and also help a person accept and even appreciate the lessons an illness provides.

The class provides an overview of the  science behind mind-body healing with an experiential exercise that promotes greater awareness. Imagery, breathing, journaling and other mind-body techniques are explored.
